Great to be attending the “Leading High Performers” session organised by ARCS Australia. 6 tips to lead high performers were shared…Read on... 1.       If you have a high performer on your team, tell them. Don’t assume that your high performers know that they are performing well - tell them regularly. 2.       Don’t neglect them - pay attention to what they have been doing, and what they need to do to get to the next step. Focus on getting the high performer to the next level and then support them to manage the added complexity. 3.       Stretch them. Focus on the areas where they are already strong. Small improvements on someone already strong will give you more results than focusing too much on under performers. 4.       Give them more. Not more work though. More occasions to step up. Have conversations, get their input and identify opportunities where they can gain more exposure and be involved in more strategic discussions. 5.       Elevate them to lift others. Increase their exposure and they will become role models to others. Use a buddy system to facilitate learning; encourage secondments; provide them with more managerial and people management responsibilities. 6.       Don’t ignore the problems with under performers in your team. “The standard you walk past is the standard you accept” ie. You need to do something or your high performers will ease off, they will become cynical, motivation will decline and they will leave.
